About Spencer

I'm Spencer Bond, a math and computer science tutor in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I built AFOQT Math Practice because good practice shouldn't cost anything.

Why this exists

I have been tutoring math and computer science for more than fifteen years, most recently at New Mexico State University Alamogordo. Over and over I have watched capable people held back not by what they could learn, but by what they could afford: prep books, paid courses, and practice tests behind a subscription. The AFOQT math sections are a good example. The math is learnable, and the way to learn it is practice, with someone showing you why each answer is right.

So this site does that, for free, for anyone, with as many fresh questions as you want.

An open educational resource

AFOQT Math Practice is meant to be an open educational resource: free to use, free to print, and free to share with a class, a study group, or a friend getting ready for the test. Teachers and recruiters are welcome to hand out the PDFs. The software behind it is free software under the GNU AGPL, so anyone can study it, improve it, and run it themselves.

I believe the world gets better when we build things together and hand them to each other freely. Knowledge grows when it is shared, and every person who learns something is better able to help the next one. Tools like this should belong to the people who use them.

Help make it better

If a question is wrong, unclear, or too easy, tell me. If you have an idea for a question type or a feature, send it. Every message is read, and the site gets better because of them.

Keep it free

There are no ads, no paywall, and no account, and there won't be. If the site helped you, you can chip in on Ko-fi to keep the server running and the work going. It is never required.
